The real name of Kamini Kaushal was Uma Kashyap. She was born on 24 th Feb, 1927 in Lahore. Kamini went to Kinnairad College and had honours in English Literature. She was born to Shiv Ram Kashyap. Her debut film was Neecha Nagar in 1946 and later she debuted in television with The Jewel In The Crown (British) in 1984. She was the female lead in the film Shaheed. As a child she used to act in radio plays and had written many short stories. She married B.S.Sood and has two step daughters. She produced an animated frilm called Meri Pari.
